What Is Collected, Where an Enquiry Goes, and How Contractor Information Is Handled

Short version: enquiries go to the contractor and nowhere else, and nothing is sold on.

What This Site Collects

The main personal data this site collects is what you type into an enquiry form: your name, phone number, optional email address and your description of the job.

There is no account, no login and no newsletter. Separately, a visitor counter records anonymous statistics about page visits, described below.

What Happens to an Enquiry

An enquiry is emailed to the contractor whose page you sent it from, and copied to the site owner. That is the whole journey.

Enquiry details are never sold, shared with other contractors, or used to market anything back to you.

Contractor Information

Most contractor listings are drawn from the SEAI public register, which SEAI publishes openly. A smaller number are added directly where a contractor is verifiable another way, such as a Companies Registration Office entry.

For every listing we hold We list company name, county, registered measures and a phone number. Every registered contractor is listed free and gets the same listing.

Contractor email addresses and websites are held but never published on the site, so they cannot be scraped from it. An enquiry form posts a register reference rather than an address, and the recipient is resolved on our server.

If a listing is ever promoted it will be labelled as promoted. Ordering within a county is otherwise random and is not a ranking.

Any contractor can have their listing corrected or removed by contacting us. Ratings, where shown, come from Google and are held back below three reviews.

Cookies and Consent

This site sets no advertising cookies, runs no advertising, and does not track you across other websites. Nothing here is shared with an ad network.

It uses one analytics cookie, from Statcounter, to count visits so we can see which pages are useful. Because that cookie is not strictly necessary, it is not set unless you accept it. On your first visit you are asked, and nothing is loaded from Statcounter until you choose. Declining is a single click and is not made harder than accepting.

If you accept, Statcounter records the page visited, the approximate location, the browser and device type, the referring site, and a truncated or hashed form of the IP address. It is a visit counter rather than a profile: it is not used to identify you, it is not linked to anything you type into an enquiry form, and no data from it is sold.

Your choice is remembered in your browser rather than in a cookie, so declining does not set the thing you declined. You can change it at any time using the button below, or opt out of Statcounter across every site that uses it at statcounter.com/about/legal/. Browser Do Not Track and tracker-blocking extensions also stop it.

Your Rights

Under GDPR you can ask what data is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for it to be deleted, ask for a copy of it, or object to how it is used. Contact us and it will be dealt with.

The lawful basis for handling an enquiry is your consent, given by sending it, and it is passed to the contractor you chose. The lawful basis for the analytics cookie is also consent, which you give or withhold on the banner and can change at any time.

If you are not satisfied with how a request is handled you can complain to the Data Protection Commission, the Irish supervisory authority, at dataprotection.ie.
